Nutan Varshabhinandan – Gujarati New Year
In Gujarati, “Nutan Varshabhinandan” means “Happy New Year” in India.
A new year’s celebration is observed and planned in the Gujarati state during Kartik month. The first day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik is when the Gujarati new year officially begins, in accordance with their traditions. They referred to this occasion as Bestu Varas, Varsha Pratipada, or Padwa.
In contrast to other Indian states, where Chaitra month marks the start of the new year, Gujaratis celebrate Kartak month as the first month of their new year, immediately following Diwali. The Hindu community in India also observes Govardhan Puja and Gujarati New Year on the fourth day of Diwali.
On October 26, 2022, the Gujarati New Year will be observed. Every Gujarati is trained to see this day as a significant occasion throughout Gujarat, and they all observe it with utmost devotion, zeal, and spirituality.

It is usual to worship Goddess Laxmi on the occasion of the Gujarati New Year and then ask for her blessings in order to keep one’s business or employment lucrative.
In order to receive God’s blessings, people also dress in new clothes and visit temples. Additionally, they toast crackers, share handmade foods and sweets, and give gifts by wishing one another. On this day, everyone forgets about the past and eagerly welcomes the future while having fun and celebrating with their friends and family.
As they close their old account records and begin anew with the new ones, this day is significant for businessmen and other merchants. Chopda puja is held in honor of the Gujarati New Year since this entire procedure or ritual is well-known as Chopda in Gujarat.
The occurrence involving Lord Krisna while he was living in Brij is connected to the Gujarati New Year. Lord Krishna questioned the villagers about their devotion to Lord Indra after noticing that they were so desperate and devoted to him.
The villagers were persuaded by Lord Krishna to be devoted to their jobs and the natural world, which provides them with food and shelter. He advised them to worship only Super God, the only deity in the universe, and not any other gods.
