Dhammachakra Pravartan Din 2022: Although Bhimrao Ambedkar converted to Buddhism on October 14, Dhammachakra Din, which commemorates the event, is celebrated every year on Ashoka Vijayadashami (Dussehra).
Bhimrao Ambedkar, India’s first law minister and the architect of the Indian constitution, embraced Buddhism after rejecting Hinduism on October 14, 1956, along with over 3 lakh of his followers. The day it occurred is known as Dhammachakra Din.
Even though the conversion occurred on October 14, Dhammachakra Din, which commemorates the event, is celebrated every year on Ashoka Vijayadashami (Dussehra).
On this day, a large gathering took place at Nagpur’s Buddhist sacred monument, Deekshabhoomi, where Dr. Ambedkar and his followers embraced Buddhism. Many Buddhists gather here to celebrate.
